1 cup chocolate chips (I recommend semi-sweet and/or dark)
Optional other toppings like M&Ms, sprinkles, etc.
Directions
1) Preheat oven to 350°F. Line the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.
2) In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter (which should be slightly cooled) and sugar together until well combined. Then mix in the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time until fully combined.
3) Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined, making sure to scrape the sides of the bowl if needed. Add 3/4ths of the chocolate chips into the batter, folding them in gently without over mixing.
4) Lightly spray the sides and bottom of the baking pan with non-stick cooking spray, making sure all areas are greased. Then pour the batter into the pan and smooth out the top to ensure equal distribution within the pan. Top the batter with remaining chocolate chips (and if adding any other toppings to the brownies).
5) Bake at 350oF for 28-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean with just a few moist crumbs. Do not bake longer than the max time.
6) For perfect squares, let them cool completely in the pan before cutting and serving, about 1-2 hours.
