Dahlias
Dahlias are a diverse genus of flowering plants native to Mexico and Central America, known for their vibrant, multi-petaled blooms that come in a vast array of colors, forms, and sizes. They are grown from tubers and thrive in full sun with well-draining soil.
For Best Results:
Location: Plant in a spot that receives at least six hours of full sun per day.
Soil: Use fertile, well-draining soil to prevent tuber rot.
Watering: Lightly water 1-3 times per day depending on temperature outside. If using a pot, ensure the water can drain.
Deadheading: Regularly snip off dead flowers to promote additional blooms rather than seeds.
Pinching: Once the central stem is about 1 foot long, snip the top 4 inches off it to promote additional branching and blooms.
